School presentation program:

On track with their determination to “give back something” to their sport, the third year of Team X’s program for school presentations was a huge success. In this 2006-2007 school year, our dynamic presentation team of Travis Chater, Sarah Baker, Lysanne Livigne, Dave Trill and Katie Cross, gave their highly acclaimed talks at the following schools in Victoria:

  • Prospect Lake Elementary
  • Brentwood Elementary
  • Cordova Bay Elementary
  • Saanichton Elementary
  • McTavish Elementary
  • Victoria West Elementary School

In doing their part to fight the growing statistics of childhood obesity, and bring back a focus on fitness in our schools, the team’s fun and motivational presentations inspire children to get active, and make them aware of the different venues available to them to do so.

Team presentations include introducing kids to equipment such as rowing machines and stationary training bikes. Fun activities in the gym such as mini-triathlons liven up the presentations further. The team also provides their audience with strategies for getting fit and active, such as a goal setting forum.

“I thought your presentation was fun, upbeat, inspiring and inclusive of all the students. Man have you got energy! It's just so great to see that in young presenters, and the impact that has on the kids is immeasurable! Good luck in your future presentations, and thanks again for coming to Saanichton for a very enjoyable 1 1/2 hrs where enjoyment, fun, sports and goal setting are all involved. You guys are great!”
(Marilyn Hodgson, Principal Saanichton Elementary School)

The team’s school presentation program will continue, with an expanded program next September. For information on this program, and to book school appearances, contact the program coordinator: Travis Chater.
